Yep! That was served with chicken &rice. (As much as I enjoy shrimp I didn't attempt it on the airplane.) We went from pizza and sandwiches to chicken or beef and rice. That meal was quite tasty! We didn't sleep much at all. We watched movies and tv mostly. They kept the lights off almost the entire flight!
Then we entered Tokyo. They were SO nice. Everyone was eager to run over and help, flight attendants were so helpful, and customs and security SMILED and didn't treat you like a criminal. The US needs to learn a few things. The one reason I hate going through the security at airports in America is because TSA hires only really mean & grumpy people. Lol
We had a long layover so we walked around, looked on FB (they didn't have it blocked!) and tried to nap. I started getting a headache because of lack of sleep at this point. Unfortunately Tylenol was packed in luggage and I was praying for a migraine to stay away! We entered the Japanese plane to a strong smell of food. Those that know me well know I don't do well with smells. When I have a headache my sense of smell is heightened. Needless to say they couldn't get me off that plane fast enough. I felt so sick and couldn't eat a bite of the oyster chicken and rice with a platter of Japanese delicacies.
After that we entered Beijing. It is a very big and beautiful airport. If only I wasn't sick the entire time. All I could smell was oyster. It somehow had seeped in my clothes and pores during our 3 hr flight. I didn't even eat it! By then, any smell made me extremely nauseated. Our flight got in late at night and for some reason we had to pick up our luggage and recheck everything once we got to China. Only problem was the airline counters were closed for the night and we couldn't check in til the next morning. All I wanted was to get to our terminal and try to sleep!!! So like a ton of others we grabbed a couple seats in the main lobby area and tried to rest. No couldn't get wifi :( so I relied on a lot of solitaire. A few naps and SEVERAL hrs later an influx of ppl arrived. Then they were everywhere! Like the whole state of Alabama (except Chinese) were in the airport! We watched them push and shove and run like it was nothing. It wasn't like what you'd see at Walmart in the US where they'd turn around cursing and throwing a punch. It seemed typical. To be in a hurry and to push the person in front of you along. We tried to stay in the back! Lol. We remembered this was the last weekend of their week long holiday so lots were traveling back home.
We got checked in and to our terminal. I desperately wanted a shower and a bed. My headache became stronger and now became VERY nauseated. I decided to take Dramamine for our last flight. I couldn't imagine getting on a plane at this point so at least this would keep me from getting sick on it. The flight to Hangzhou was only 2 hrs and I slept the entire way. Dramamine had kicked in! Thank goodness because I woke when they served lunch and it was another very strong smell. This time neither of us took the tray so we have no idea what it was.
Our guide was there when we got off the plane. She is wonderful! She's been doing this with Lifeline for awhile so she knows exactly what to expect. We got to our hotel and started settling in. We (I) was so exhausted and my senses were still heightened that we only ventured next door for waters and down the street for McDonalds.
Yep a cheeseburger was my first meal in China!
Much love,
