Shopping Shopping Shopping

Shopping pretty much sums up our day! We met up and had breakfast with friends then went for a stroll in the garden. After that we met with our group to go shopping at a local mall where they sold wholesale jewelry as well. We purchased some pearls as gifts and a Chinese dress for Natalee.

I also wanted a jade piece to wear until Natalee is older and then pass on to her. It is Chinese tradition. We found a beautiful jade bangle that I will wear everyday. As the years pass, the jade will begin to darken.

This afternoon, Nat and I went to the playground. It was a little difficult for her but she gave it a good try!

We had a group photo this evening in the Chinese dresses. The riverboat cruise was immediately after but Natalee wasn't in a very happy mood and we have an extremely early morning so we skipped. Good call because this was the first night in a long time that she crawled up in Jeremy's lap and fell right to sleep. Normally it's a fight and normally she has to cuddle with me.

Tomorrow morning at 8:30 is our Consulate Appointment then we have the zoo in the afternoon. We leave Tuesday for Hong Kong! Just a few more days til we return to U.S.!!!

Catch up!

We have a lot to catch up on! We are in Guangzhou now and we have wifi in our room. Now I can check Internet and blog each day!

Thursday we went on a boat ride across the West Lake. It was beautiful and relaxing. Well until Natalee decided to be a 2 yr old and got grumpy because she was tired and hungry!! A few snacks later and she settled some...

Pagodas in the water

People were stopping us to take her photo. I'm guessing it was the flower! lol

SongLian was tired!

We went to a fresh pearl market and I bought her a pearl pendant necklace. This is her "special" coming from her province. We then stayed in the van with her while she napped and the Hardee's did some shopping at the silk market. When we left there we had stop by the notary office for some documents and then back to the hotel for packing.

Friday we had a free day until 2 when we left for the airport. It was sad to leave Savor. She has been such a blessing! At least we are still with the Hardee family though.

CoraGrace sat next to us on the plane. Natalee did well. No crying! It was so hot though.

We are staying at the Garden Hotel and it is gorgeous. the most amazing place we have ever stayed!

They gave her a panda :)

She's been sick with a cold so we've been fighting that especially at night. She's a fiesty little thing when she's sleepy. She screams and screams. The orphanage said they didn't rock her, read to her, or sing to her and all lights are out. Well...obviously it doesn't apply with us. She hates the crib. The first couple of nights she let me rock her but now she just fights me til she just gives out and falls asleep. She climbs right out of the crib. We tried last night and all of a sudden she's standing in front of us. Scared me to death! Jeremy said "uh oh little ninja!" Guess we will just be out of sorts til we can get home and establish a good routine.

She still hates the bath. We make it short and sweet and hope one day there will be no tears (&screams.) She has not said any words or made any sounds yet. She smiles and kisses us but won't laugh out loud. She loves to play and play rough! She likes to play flip and run up and pound her head up against your chest. She thinks that's so fun. Seems like boy stuff to me. Where's my sweet gentle girl??!!

We had the best breakfast ever at the buffet then went to our medical appt. I will go into detail about that later. I have to go to make it to our next meeting at 3.

My Sad Eyed Girl

I'm going to try to squeeze a lot in one post so it might be all over the place!!

First...since my last post I have not had access to email until this morning and checked FB tonight. I was overwhelmed with all the love, prayers, and support we have received! SO many emails & messages with much needed encouragement! We love you all so much!

Now on to the part you are waiting for...

This is our sad eyed baby girl. She finds comfort in having a bottle in her mouth even if she's not drinking. She will not let you pull it out at all! She has a toy in both hands at all times, even when she sleeps. She cries when she's sad or when she can't express what she wants to us. She has yet to make the first sound other than a scream or cry. She prefers Baba all day long but only wants Mama to cuddle her to sleep....all through the night...several times when she wakes up! She eats everything and wants to eat all the time. I call her lil squirrel because if you don't watch her carefully, she has the food packed away in her cheeks! She HATES the bath. She's terrified of the crib in the hotel so lucky for her she sleeps in between Baba & Mama. She doesn't mind changing clothes. She loves music. We learned today she loves to walk. She eats rice for breakfast...well all the time! And I love her more than she will ever know!

Yesterday we went to her orphanage in Ningbo City. Beautiful place! It was 2 hrs from our hotel. Natalee slept the entire way. When we arrived we were instructed to go directly to a nearby restaurant for lunch that the orphanage director had planned for us. It was very nice. The meal was served on the lazy Susan. You just spin it and get what you'd like off the dishes available. The directors and leaders picked Nat up and she immediately reached back at me. This is when I first knew I had so many prayers going up for us!

We later went to the orphanage where they presented us with a beautiful gift, a certificate, and a photo album with a letter for Natalee. These pictures were all of her with the leaders.

We were then taken to her classroom. The director said we weren't able to enter the building with cribs but we could see her classroom. She was already in a preschool. She got a little uneasy so Jeremy took her outside.

The Directors wanted pictures with us. They all were SO sweet!

We left after that and went to get her passport processed. We will pick it up Friday!

We also received our official certificate of adoption from Civil Affairs! That was a very exciting moment!

Last night she grieved quite a bit again. I just held her tight for a couple hrs then Jeremy took his turn. Finally she got tired and stopped crying. I put her to sleep and she woke less through the night.

Today was much much better! She is gaining our trust and actually allowed us to put her down and walk! Now she walks everywhere. She loves to "kiss" Mama (really she just leans forward with her mouth open) and she gives partial smiles when I kiss her neck. She started playing in the floor with me. She actually rode in the stroller when we went out for the evening with the Hardee family!

We went and toured (climbed the stairs) of a pagoda today. It was beautiful!! Difficult and tiring but the scenery was worth it.

We also went to tour a tea farm. That was truly an experience!

Our green tea lesson!

I had to take this photo because these are really the brooms they use her! I've seen them put one together and start sweeping out on the street!!!

Tomorrow we go on a boat across the West Lake. I am so excited! Friday is our free day so we will hit the town for shopping. Then we leave to Guangzhou that evening.

China is a wonderful place and I just can't soak in all the beauty and write it down. Wish you were here to share with me!

Keep praying! We feel every one!!

Hardest Day Ever

There will be no sugar coating this blog today.

We went to Civil Affairs Office at 9 this morning. We were busy with paperwork and completed just in time for our new friends, Kyle & Eliza, to receive their sweet daughter. About 15 min later in came 2 babies. The second baby was our Natalee Grace. She screamed and screamed!

Her caregiver handed her over immediately and talked with her. Natalee screamed and cried the entire time she was in my arms. During that time, Jeremy was busy filling out paperwork. As soon as it was my turn I handed her to Jeremy. She went silent. She is a daddy's girl!

All day she has been more content in his arms. She gets easily frustrated with me and reaches for him. She doesn't mind sitting with me at all but if there's a choice...it's him. That is really an answer to my prayers! I wanted her to bond with both of us but especially him since so many have trouble bonding to daddys.

Now for the hard part. She cried all day. I'm not saying an hr here and there. I'm saying all day! She is so sad and desperately wants us to make it better. She looks up and the tears just fall. It kills me. I questioned today if I would be strong enough for her. I know it's just the lack of sleep and stress talking but it's just so hard. I need prayers for God to give me strength to provide for her. She needs something so big and there is only ONE that can give me what I need to provide her that. It hurts me to see her hurt.

She literally panics if we lay her in the crib. She finally allowed us to let her sit on the bed next to us. She napped on top of me today and right now she is cuddling sound asleep with Baba (daddy) in our bed.

Thanks to Matt Redman "10,000 Reasons" song (which happens to be my fav too!) I was able to stop her crying episode this evening. We fed her and put her to bed with only one short cry when Baba left the room to change. She loves music and happens to enjoy my iPod choices so we will hope it continues to calm her.

Tomorrow is going to be so hard. We start the day early for passport paperwork for her. Then we will drive 2 hrs to visit her orphanage. I'm not sure that's it's a good idea because she's still grieving so hard so please pray about it. I will talk to Savor and get her opinion and we will go from there.

I don't have pics other than this on my phone and I don't have access to the others tonight. I will upload more throughout the week. I will leave you with this...

My two favorites! (Sorry it's blurry it was dark)
